Prior to the Feminist movement of the 1960’s & 70’s you had the WKKK (also known as the Women’s Ku Klux Klan or Women of the Ku Klux Klan) which lasted off & on from the 1860’s to the 1980’s.

sticking the word “women’s” in front of something does not make it feminist or even associated with Feminism.

I drew this in class yesterday to distract me from feeling guilty about not doing the reading so it’s super messy & I don’t know if I really like it. I’m kind of bad of putting my feelings into words, especially when it comes to drawing descriptions, but it kind of came out of the fact that those of us that are socialized as female are taught to treat confidence in each other as imposing/threatening/”bitchy” as a part of the larger ideology that women should be in constant competition with each other and that it is necessary to demean others based on that. So I dunno.

“Indonesian women stage a protest wearing miniskirts at Jakarta’s central roundabout on September 18, 2011 to denounce remarks made by Jakarta city Governor Fauzi Bowo who blamed a recent gang rape on the victim’s choice of clothing. Fauzi Bowo called on women on September 16 not to wear miniskirts when riding on public transport in the capital after a 27-year-old woman was attacked in a public minivan early this month.”

“My body is not porn, instead it’s your dirty mind.” 

The women “protested for more protection for women and better aid for sexual assault victims.”
